John Wade Memorial Bike Rally - Friday/Saturday/Sunday 10/11/12 July 2009

What a weekend - we should have put a banner up saying 'Welcome to the Cornish Glastonbury'.   You guessed it - we had rain, rain and yet even more rain, every day.  It was meant to be a rally with live music, partying and joviality but it rained!  Did that stop us?  No, did it heck as like, we listened to the live music, chatted, joked with each other, ate and drank plenty of the wonderful food and ale served by the staff of The Crooked Inn.  We all got totally soaked to the skin every day but we were still smiling and laughing at the end of the weekend.  We probably have webbed feet by now!

Our grateful thanks to Tony and Sandra Arnold and all the staff at The Crooked Inn, where we were made to feel most welcome, without a venue there would have been no event, so our grateful thanks to everyone.

We would also like to thank the bands who played and sang their hearts out, in some atrocious weather.  Well done to nine of the eleven bands who faithfully turned up and put their hearts and souls into their performance; some of whom played their first gig at our event.  So  very many thanks to The Diggurz, Kitty and The Lost Boys, Inside Job, Ishmael, Go Green Monkey, Raw Urge, MaidaValePain, Sods Opera and Seeyellow.  None of you were deterred by the weather and put on some awesome performances.  Some of you stayed for the whole of the evening or ended up staying the night.  We hope that we can work with you all again next year.

Although they turned up for the event, both Angus and Splintrz decided not to perform just prior to their performance, leaving some of their fans disappointed.   We understand that a possible gig for Angus was given to to one of the bands that performed for us over the weekend.

Many thanks to all the bikers that turned up at the event, the furthest having travelled from Grimsby.  We met and made many new friends, it was just one big biker-party, we all were amongst friends and not strangers.

Our thanks also to Langdon Transport for providing the lorry for use as the stage.  Last but not least even our band of volunteer helpers were not deterred by the weather, so many thanks to Martin, Gillian, Paul, Leanne, 'Prince' (no, not the singer), Rob and Jason.

And what are we doing now?  Planning next year's rally, which will be even bigger.   In the meantime we can reflect on the 1st bike rally by viewing the photo album.  For those who did not attend, take a look  and see what you missed.   Because of the weather some of the photos are not of a good quality as the camera was getting damp and misting up.  However, enjoy.
