My name is Stuart or Madrider1961 as most people know me.
For the past eight years I have completed UK charity rides on a 125cc motorbike, covering thousands of miles and raising thousands of pounds along the way, I relish a challenge and welcome your support for my chosen charities, over the years I have helped raise over £40,00.00, for which I would like to thank both my supporters and sponsors. The charities I have helped raise money for are:
RNLI
DebRA
Royal British Legion - Poppy Appeal
Devon Air Ambulance
Cornwall Air Ambulance
Welsh Air Ambulance
Diabetes UK
I am registered disabled and although I have done other rides they are not as easy as one thinks. When the going gets tough out on a ride, especially when I am riding solo, it is my determination to help others less able than myself that keeps me focused and motivated to reach my goal. It is good to know that I have the support of many motorcycle clubs, indiviudal riders and friends and family together with sponsors who are 'routeing' for me too. I am not one to give up easily, and even when it has got really tough, when others thought I would give in, I have astounded them and carried on. It is my determination that keeps me going.
I have been in the local and 'press' both in Plymouth and also in Lancashire and Hull. My claim to fame is that I have been on local TV for a brief interview regarding a protest on the fuel prices a few years ago. I always wanted to get on TV and eventually managed it. I have also been interviewed on radio a few times and once had to drop my Events Manager, in at the deep-end on a live radio interview which was aired the day I started a charity bike ride. You see, it is not all about me (there are a lot of people behind the scenes who help out too, together with sponsors and friends who assist at charity events) I am just the guy that does the 'silly' bit and gets on his Honda CG 125CC and rides for charity. Now you can see why I am called 'Madrider1961' - I am a 'nutter on a 125'.
My 2012 ride is already in the process of being organised and plans are well in progress for July 2012. Full details will appear on the website as soon as possible.
Please feel free to look at the pages of my website ....
