'Madrider' meets The Stig at Air Ambulance Ride

Madrider1961 rode up to Wales recently to ride with the Welshbikers on their Air Ambulance run.  There where many bikers there as well as the Welsh Stig .

Madrider rode up on the CG125cc which although is normal Honda cg125cc it goes very well and at one point had to overtake Stig's Porsche as he was going to slow.  The ride was around 130 miles, which is a normal ride out for Madrider, and he completed  around 600miles in the weekend while he was away .

The thinks the craziest part of the ride was on way home after the ride itself, only to be told that he had left his keys in Cardiff.  By then he was at Bridgwater which was too far to go back so the keys came back via royal mail.

The ride took Madrider up past Tintern, and the Wye Valley up to Hereford then to Abergavenny then onto the Brecons.  What a sight well worth going there, we then rode to Bridgend but I had to take a different route due to no motorway usage,  so they took me over the mountians.  Ok the CG hate sgoing up but going down is better, well until you hit the Welsh corners, lol.

Madrider had a great time and thank you too all

'Madrider' meets Charley Boorman

Saturday 21 February 2009 saw Stuart Morrissey, aka Madrider1961 meet celebrity motorcyclist Charley Boorman.  Probably best known for the Long Way Down and the Long Way Round.

Stuart had the opportunity to briefly chat with Charley about his charity motorcycle rides, both past and future.  Charley agreed with Stuart on his choice for his 2009 charity ride, that of the Honda CBF125.

Charley and Stuart are pictured here at the GT Motorcycles display with Dougie Fry, of GT Motorcycles, who is also Stuart's Support vehicle driver and motorcycle technician.

Stuart would like to thank Charley for taking the time to stop and chat with him and also for the photo opportunity.

GT Motorcycles supports Madrider

CBF

GT Motorcycles in association with Honda UK will be supplying Stuart Morrissey, aka Madrider1961 with a Honda CBF125 cc motorcycle for his 2009 charity motorcycle ride in aid of DebRA.

The CBF125 was launched in 2008 and supercedes the CG125.  This is an excellent opportunity for the CBF125 to be put through its paces where it will travel over different terrain and in varying weather conditions.  The aim is to travel from Lands End to John O'Groats and back in three days, spending less than £100.00 worth of fuel, based on information obtained from the Honda technical literature.

Stuart is extremely grateful to Mike Turner, Honda Branch Manager of GT Motorcycles and Mike Grainger, Managing Director or GT Motorcycles for their assistance in supplying the Honda CBF125.

Pictured from left to right are Stuart Morrissey, Dougie Fry (Support Vehicle driver and motorcycle technician), Mark Turner and Mike Grainger.

MADRIDER presents DebRA with cheque

Thursday 23 October 2008 saw EB sufferer Lucy McCarthy-George receive a cheque for £3,709.38 on behalf of DebRA from Madrider1961, otherwise known as Stuart Morrissey.  Stuart raised the money by completing a motorcycle ride around the UK in 12 days in July 2008, covering 4,000 miles.   Monies were also raised en-route, by donations through his 'justgiving' site and at the Bike Meet which he rode into on Sunday 20 July 2008 on completion of his mammoth ride.

Lucy also had the opportunity to sit on Madrider's motorbike for the photo-shoot with the Plymouth Herald, which was held at GT Motorcycles new showroom in Elburton, Plymouth.   Also present was the DebRA Regional Fundraising Manager for the South West & Wales, Laura Pratt; Mike Grainger of GT Motorcycles; and Danny Mason of 1st Class Motorcycle Training School.

In a separate presentation, both Mike Grainger and Danny Mason received trophies from Madrider for their continued support over the years.

MADRIDER SPONSORS LOCAL BOYS' UNDER 12's FOOTBALL TEAM

Local charity motorcyclist Stuart Morrissey (aka 'Madrider1961') has sponsored local boys' under 12's football team Keyham Kolts.

Stuart has sponsored the team by paying for their football tops in the team colours of pale blue with dark blue writing bearing his website address of www.madrider1961.co.uk.

Stuart saw this as an opportunity to help local children in their chosen sport.

It will also be two-fold in helping to promote his charity work through his website.

I would like to wish Keyham Kolts every success for the 2008/2009 season.

More information on Keyham Kolts can be found at their website at http://kkfc.org.uk/1.html.

Robin DurgesINSPECTOR ROBIN DERGES RETIRES

The 21 May 2008 sees Inspector Robin Derges of Devon & Cornwall Police retire from the force, although his last working day was Sunday 4 May 2008 at the BMAD festival in Paignton, South Devon.

Robin has been a great help and has supported me with my charity rides for many years.  Un-beknown to Robin, I had previously arranged with one of his colleagues to make a presentation to him as a small token of my appreciation.

On Tuesday the 7 May 2008, I personally presented Robin with an engraved glass pint tankard at Plympton police station, Plymouth.  I understand that Robin intends to still be involved with the police Bike Safe initiative.

Wishing you a very Happy Retirement Robin.  Madrider1961
